Get ready for an exhilarating ocean safari adventure, seeking to watch and swim with a diverse range of marine megafauna. During this tour, we will navigate the ocean on a boat (panga), exploring in pursuit of captivating wildlife. Cerralvo Island, situated uniquely in the southern Sea of Cortez and surrounded by deep channels, serves as an ideal location that attracts marine megafauna for feeding, resting, socializing, and migrating.
This tour is a blend of anticipation and uncertainty—be prepared for the unexpected. Spending 6-8 hours on the boat, we aim to encounter large marine animals. It can may take 5 minutes, or all day to find them!
Different species exhibit distinct movement and migration patterns. Resident species like bottlenose dolphins or California sea lions can be spotted year-round. Conversely, species like Mobula Rays are more likely to be observed during the season (April-June), while others such as orcas or sperm whales are less predictable, offering a rare sighting if luck is on our side.
The tour kicks off around 6 am in La Paz, where we’ll pick you up from your hotel and embark on a 45-minute drive to La Ventana. Upon reaching our destination, we will board a boat and commence our quest. Once we locate the animals, the captain and guide will assess their behavior to determine if it’s safe to enter the water. Be prepared to take multiple dips throughout the day, as we aim to maximize your interactions with these incredible marine creatures.
